In October 2020, Floyd County Schools (FCS), located in Georgia, launched a virtual homework help desk called “Focused Core Support.” Using Title IV, Part A funds, FCS provides current teachers with a stipend for helping to manage and support the virtual help desk. The Every Student Succeeds Act, more commonly referred to as ESSA, was signed into law in December 2015. This reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (also known as ESEA). When this happened, the Title IV-A Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program was authorized. This program provides flexible funds that allow State education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs) to tailor supports for their unique contexts.
